About us

The NHS National Waiting Times Centre emerged after the purchase of a private hospital and hotel complex by the Scottish Executive on 28 June 2002.

The site was immediately known as the NHS National Waiting Times Centre Board - an NHS Special Health Board – while the hospital was named the Golden Jubilee National Hospital.

Our unique status means that anyone, living anywhere in Scotland, can be referred by their local NHS Board to us for a range of procedures.

As Scotland's national hospital we:

  • receive referrals to reduce patient waiting times in key elective specialties;
  • are a major centre for orthopaedics; and
  • have a responsibility for a range of regional and national heart and lung services.
