Non-Executive Directors | Executive Directors

Lindsay Burley, Chairman Lindsay Burley, Chairman
Dr Burley has been Chair since April 2003. Prior to that she was Chief Executive of Borders Health Board. She is a Non Executive Director of NHS Education for Scotland a lay member of Napier University Court and Convener of the Trustees of the Dementia Services Development Centre at Stirling University.


Dr James O'Neil, Vice Chairman James O'Neil, Vice Chairman
Dr O'Neil is a General Medical Practitioner and has held several senior positions serving the GP community in Glasgow. He was previously Medical Director of Glasgow Emergency Medical Service and has experience of working on many health committees and groups. Dr O'Neil has not been involved in any political activity within the last five years and does not hold any other Ministerial appointments.


Hilary Mounfield OBE Hilary Mounfield OBE
Ms Mounfield is Chief Executive of Epilepsy Scotland and Chair of Voluntary Health Scotland. She has held many public and voluntary sector positions on various organisations and is a committed advocate of 'patient power'. Ms Mounfield has not been involved in any political activity within the last five years, and does not hold any other Ministerial appointments.


Mairi Brown JP Mairi Brown JP
Mrs Brown is a retired teacher and a member of the Children's Panel Advisory Committee. She was a trustee of Argyll and Clyde Acute Trust and Inverclyde Royal Hospital Trust and has a sound knowledge of the working of the NHS both through her experience at Board level and in several other roles. Mrs Brown is also a Justice of the Peace, for which she receives no remuneration. She has not been involved in any political activity within the last five years.


Peter Ramsay Peter Ramsay
Mr Ramsay is an independent mortgage adviser. He has previously worked as an Executive Bank Manager for Clydesdale Bank PLC. He is also Chair of John Logie Baird Primary School Board. Mr Ramsay has been actively involved in a number of roles with the Conservative party within the last five years, including standing as a candidate, speaking on behalf of the party, canvassing, and also being the Chair and Treasurer of a Local Branch. He does not hold any other Ministerial appointments.


S Kenneth Thomson S Kenneth Thomson
Mr Thomson is a part-time Project Director of the Glasgow Gaelic Centre project and part-time Development Officer (Scotland) with the NHS Retirement Fellowship. He has spent his entire working life in the NHS and has held several senior positions, including Chief Executive of Yorkhill NHS Trust and Law Hospital NHS Trust. He also has a strong interest in the Gaelic language and is Conductor of Glasgow Gaelic Musical Association. Mr Thomson has not been involved in any political activity within the last five years and does not hold any other Ministerial appointments.


Jeane FreemanJeane Freeman
Jeane Freeman is a senior consultant in public policy and government, specialising in providing strategic policy advice to private and public sector organisations. In 1987 she established the criminal justice employment organisation, Apex Scotland and was its Chief Executive for 12 years. In 1995 she was awarded the OBE for services to criminal justice.For just over four years until 2005, Ms Freeman was senior special adviser to the First Minister, working on the Scottish Budget, the government’s legislative programme, relations with the UK government and in the Finance, Health and Justice portfolios. She is currently a member of the Parole Board for Scotland.

 


Carole Anderson Carole Anderson, Employee Director
Carole has been Employee Director of the NHS National Waiting Times Centre since June 2004 and has the same corporate responsibility as all of our other Non-Executive Directors. Together with Staff Side Representatives and Department Managers, she is also involved in bringing staff issues to the attention of Senior Managers, and works to ensure that all staff feel involved, listened to and able to participate in decisions that affect them. She also provides a staff perspective on strategy development and service delivery and provides a vital link between the Board and our Partnership Forum.

Jill Young, Chief Executive Jill Young,
Chief Executive

Jill Young's NHS career spans 28 years and began as an Auxiliary Nurse. She quickly worked her way up through the nursing profession and by 1997 was appointed as Planning and Development Director for the South Ayrshire Trust.

Following national Trust mergers, Jill then secured the Director of Strategy and Operations position - responsible for five hospitals. By 2001 Jill was appointed Deputy Chief Executive of NHS Ayrshire and Arran Acute Hospitals Trust.

Jill was appointed Chief Executive of the NHS National Waiting Times Centre Board in October 2004.


Dr Kenneth Ferguson, Deputy Chief Executive/Medical Director Dr Kenneth Ferguson,
Deputy Chief Executive/Medical Director

In an NHS career that dates back to 1986, Ken Ferguson joined the NHS National Waiting Times Centre in January 2004 as Medical Director, having previously been with NHS 24 as an Associate Medical Director. In Autumn 2005, he also took on the role of Deputy Chief Executive for the Board.

Ken is the lead director for the creation of the West of Scotland Regional Heart and Lung Centre and has led the development and implementation of the board medical staffing strategy. He also has an interest in leadership and management that has culminated in him recently achieving an MBA from Strathclyde Graduate Business School.


Shona Chaib, Director of Nursing Shona Chaib,
Director of Nursing

Shona Chaib has been nursing for almost 30 years. Her background is mainly based in cardiac surgery and she has a special interest in Medical Law and Ethics, having graduated to Masters Level in 2000.

For the last nine years she has been the hospital's Director of Nursing, managing a range of clinical and non-clinical services. She is currently also executive lead for Clinical Governance and Risk Management.


Lindsey Ferries, Director of Human Resources Lindsey Ferries,
Director of Human Resources

Lindsey Ferries has over 25 years experience of human resources across a variety of industries, 14 years of which have been in the healthcare sector.

Lindsey leads the Human Resources and Learning and Development teams and is responsible for the development of the Human Resources strategy and its implementation across the board. As well as supporting the organisation on dealing with significant change and growth, she is also the executive lead for equality and diversity.


Julie Carter, Director of Finance Julie Carter,
Director of Finance

Julie Carter is a qualified accountant and has been working within the NHS in Glasgow for the last 15 years. Before joining the NHS National Waiting Times Centre Board in 2006, she worked as the Deputy Director of Finance in North Glasgow.

Since joining the Board, Julie has been fully involved in the creation of the West of Scotland Regional Heart and Lung Centre, the development and implementation of the Beardmore Hotel and Conference Centre as an NHS and public sector conference and training facility and the expansion of orthopaedic surgery at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital. Julie is responsible for delivering the Financial Strategy of the Board, she also has responsibility for eHealth and Procurement services within the organisation.


June Rogers, Director of Business Services June Rogers,
Director of Business Services

June Rogers has worked in administration in various industries, 14 years of which have been in the healthcare sector.

June leads the Business Services Department, managing a range of non-clinical services, and has an executive lead for patient activity and continuous expansion of capacity throughout the hospital. As well as her involvement in the creation of the West of Scotland Regional Heart and Lung Centre, she is also closely involved with the expansion of orthopaedic surgery at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital.
