What we do

As the flagship hospital of the NHS National Waiting Times Centre, we carry out a range of planned procedures to assist our NHS Board colleagues in reducing patient waiting times.

The West of Scotland Heart and Lung Centre, based at the hospital, treats patients from across the region. All bypasses, heart transplants, heart valve surgery and other complex procedures are carried out at the specialist centre.

We also offer heart attack patients life-saving treatment through our Optimal Reperfusion programme. The service works by diagnosing patients and taking them to the Golden Jubilee for treatment within 90 minutes – those who cannot meet the deadline are given a clot-busting drug while being taken direct to us for specialist treatment.
