Our Booking Office staff will make all the arrangements for your admission. When you arrive we will ask you some questions to help us care for you during your stay, including contact numbers, GP’s name, address and telephone number etc.
Based on individual patient needs, our Transport team provides a transport service to the hospital seven days a week, transferring patients from all wards and clinics to either their home or a pre-arranged drop-off point (normally another hospital).
If you are coming as an an inpatient as well as the usual nightwear, dressing gown and slippers, you may wish to bring several items of loose comfortable clothing for during the day. You will probably also wish to bring your own toiletries.
Please ensure you also bring any medication that you are currently taking. This will be discussed with your Consultant, stored during your stay, and, if appropriate, returned to you on discharge.
Each room has a wardrobe and a small cabinet where you can store your personal possessions.
We cannot take responsibility for the loss of your money, or for the loss or damage to your valuables or personal items during your stay. If you must bring valuables with you, let staff know when you arrive and they will give you a receipt before arranging for them to be stored securely in the hospital safe.
Small electrical appliances are allowed in the patient rooms but appliances must be checked by hospital engineers before use – please ask a member of staff to arrange this. Hairdryers are available in the ward for your use.
We believe in the importance of comfort and privacy, and all our rooms are designed to reflect this, with their own en-suite shower and WC, TV and telephones and you can even adjust the heating at the touch of a button. Our housekeepers will clean your room every day.
Should you need to use the phone in your room, you will be billed for any calls you make at standard BT rates. You should settle your account at hospital reception before you leave.
Mobile phones may interfere with medical equipment. We ask you to use your mobile phone only on the ground floor (level one) and to make sure that it is switched off in all other areas of the hospital.
Public telephones are located:
- beside the East lifts, level three
- opposite the conservatory, ground floor
- in the main hotel foyer.
Meals can be taken either in your room or, by prior arrangement, in the hospital dining room. You will be given a daily menu from which to make your selections. If you are on a modified diet, you will be given a special menu and our dietician will help you make the proper choices.
If you are allergic to certain foods, or have a special diet for personal or religious reasons, then please tell the Booking Office staff on admission. Any special needs will be co-ordinated by our registered dietician in liaison with your Consultant.

We have our own shop that stocks a large selection of sundry items such as newspapers, magazines, phone cards, stamps, toiletries and gifts.
Situated on the ground floor, next to the West lifts, the shop is open from 8am-8pm, Monday to Friday and 9am-4pm Saturday and Sunday. A trolley service is provided to the wards from 10.30-11am and 2.15-2.45pm, Monday to Friday, and 10.30-11am Saturday and Sunday.
Letters, cards and parcels are delivered daily for patients and our staff will ensure that you receive these as quickly as possible. A porter will deliver any flowers that are sent in for you.
Outgoing mail can be given to unit staff, who will ensure that it reaches the hospital’s mailroom. Stamps can be purchased from the hospital shop.
Smoking is not allowed anywhere on hospital grounds. We appreciate your co-operation in this area.
Infection control is everyone’s responsibility. And that’s why we have a strict hand hygiene system in place here at the Golden Jubilee.
All staff, patients and visitors should wash their hands with our special alcohol gel on entering and leaving any clinical areas. You can do this at our hand hygiene stations, which are located just outside our wards. You can also find bottles of this gel, which helps us reduce the risk of infection, on the sinks in every patient room.
