Spiritual care / Hospital chaplaincy

Whether your approach to life is based on faith or philosophy, we are here for you.

It has been widely demonstrated that caring for the whole person – mind, body and spirit – can play a positive role in the process of healing and rehabilitation.

Patients will be asked about their religious affiliation when they attend for assessment before surgery. If you say that this is important to you, then a member of the Spiritual care team will visit you within a few days of admission to ensure that your needs are being met and to offer spiritual support as appropriate.

If you do not indicate a religious preference, then a team member may call upon you at a later stage as a matter of courtesy.

You can request to speak to a hospital chaplain at any time during your stay - just let a member of staff know and they will contact the Spiritual Care team on your behalf. If you wish, we can contact a representative of your chosen denomination, religion or faith group to arrange a visit for you.

Our Spiritual care Provider can be contacted on 0141 951 5060. Out of hours, you can contact this service via hospital switchboard on 0141 951 5000.
