Delivering care through collaboration

Advice for staff

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are recent onset of new continuous cough,  and/or fever/high temperature and/or loss or changed sense of normal smell or taste (Anosmia).

Up-to-date information for professionals is available at NHS Inform.

Up-to-date advice on self-isolation, social distancing and shielding is available from NHS Inform.

Face Covering requirements from 16 May 2023

Fluid Resistant Surgical Masks (FRSM) or face coverings will no longer be routinely required in health and social care facilities across Scotland from Tuesday 16 May.

For staff, we are returning to pre-pandemic guidance, where masks no longer need to be worn. However, routine infection prevention and control guidance on the appropriate use of personal protective equipment will resume in line with the National Infection Prevention and Control Manual.

Staff who have any personal concerns about removal of this guidance, should speak to their line manager in the first instance.

Contacting Occupational Health

Any member of staff who has symptoms must stay at home and call their line manager and, during office hours, call Occupational Health.

To help triage calls to best support all of our staff, please contact the Occupational Health Department either by telephoning extension 5435 and leaving a message including your name and contact number or emailing occ.health@gjnh.scot.nhs.uk

The team will aim to return calls and reply to emails by the end of each day.

Priority Testing Requests

NHS Golden Jubilee is following national guidance for testing of essential workers and members of their household who have symptoms.

Testing of staff and household members should take place in the first three days after the onset of symptoms and no later than five days after onset.

To help ensure the earliest identification of clusters/outbreaks of COVID-19 relating to staff, all staff must:

  • Contact their manager as soon as they develop any symptoms that may be related to COVID-19, even if they are currently off shift or on leave.
  • Arrange to be tested as soon as possible through the following link:
  • Advise their manager and Occupational Health as soon as they have their results, even if they are off shift or on leave.
