NHS Golden Jubilee is delighted to announce it has 3 finalists at the Scottish Veterans Awards 2026.

NHS Golden Jubilee is an Employer of the Year finalist for the third time in 4 years, having won the category in 2024.

Specialist Biomedical Scientist Adam Murray is a Cadet Adult Instructor of the Year finalist and Radiology patient support volunteer Jim Drew is a finalist in the Volunteer of the Year category.

The Scottish Veterans Awards celebrate veterans, reservists, volunteers and organisations who go above and beyond to support the armed forces community.

They recognise positive transitions into civilian life, outstanding service to others, and those who act as role models, mentors and community leaders across Scotland.

Carolynne O’Connor, Chief Executive of NHS Golden Jubilee, said: “Veterans, reservists, volunteers and cadet leaders bring dedication, integrity and valuable experience to our organisation and communities.

“We are proud that NHS Golden Jubilee, Adam and Jim have been recognised as finalists.

“Together, these nominations reflect NHS Golden Jubilee’s long‑standing commitment to supporting veterans, reservists, cadet volunteers and their families, and the positive impact this has for patients, staff and communities across Scotland.”

Employer of the Year finalist

The Employer of the Year Award celebrates organisations that go the extra mile to recruit, retain and support veterans, reservists and the wider Armed Forces community.

NHS Golden Jubilee has supported the Armed Forces community since it was established in 2002, with this commitment recognised nationally for more than a decade.

The Board was first acknowledged as a Supportive Employer of the Armed Forces Reserves in 2013, signed the Armed Forces Covenant in 2016, and in 2017 became the first NHS Scotland Board to receive the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award. This recognition was successfully revalidated in 2022.

NHS Golden Jubilee received the Employer of the Year silver award at the Scottish Veterans Awards in 2023 and gold award (overall winner) in 2024.

Adam Murray, Cadet Adult Instructor of the Year finalist

The Cadet Adult Instructor of the Year Award recognises volunteers who dedicate their time to developing young people, strengthening cadet units and creating positive, inclusive environments for learning and growth.

Adam Murray, a Specialist Biomedical Scientist at NHS Golden Jubilee, has been recognised for his outstanding voluntary work with Clydebank Sea Cadets, where he serves as Junior Training Officer.

Adam has volunteered for 8 years, following 10 years as a cadet himself. He leads the recruitment, training and development of junior cadets aged 9 to 12, and has transformed the junior section through a structured, supportive and age‑appropriate programme.

Jim Drew, Volunteer of the Year finalist

The Volunteer of the Year Award celebrates individuals who give their time selflessly to support others and make a lasting difference in their community.

Jim Drew, a Royal Navy veteran with 35 years’ service, has been recognised for his exceptional volunteering at NHS Golden Jubilee.

Jim volunteers weekly in the Radiology Department, supporting patients from across Scotland by helping them navigate the hospital and offering calm reassurance. His presence helps reduce anxiety for patients and supports staff to keep clinics running smoothly.

NHS Golden Jubilee wishes all finalists the very best of luck at the Scottish Veterans Awards 2026, which takes place in April in Edinburgh.
