NHS Golden Jubilee is proud to congratulate those recognised at the Scottish Veterans Awards 2026, including Specialist Biomedical Scientist Adam Murray, who achieved second place in the Cadet Adult Instructor of the Year category.

NHS Golden Jubilee had 3 finalists at this year’s awards. The organisation was shortlisted for Employer of the Year, while Radiology patient support volunteer Jim Drew was a finalist in the Volunteer of the Year category.

The Scottish Veterans Awards celebrate veterans, reservists, volunteers and organisations who go above and beyond to support the armed forces community, recognising outstanding service, positive transitions into civilian life, and strong community leadership across Scotland.

Carolynne O’Connor, Chief Executive of NHS Golden Jubilee, said: “Veterans, reservists, volunteers and cadet leaders bring dedication, integrity and valuable experience to our organisation and communities.

“We are very proud of Adam’s achievement and of everyone from NHS Golden Jubilee who was recognised at this year’s awards.

“These finalists reflect our long‑standing commitment to supporting the armed forces community and the positive impact this has for patients, staff and communities across Scotland.”

Adam Murray – Cadet Adult Instructor of the Year (second place)

Adam Murray, a Specialist Biomedical Scientist at NHS Golden Jubilee, was awarded second place for his voluntary work with Clydebank Sea Cadets, where he has volunteered for 8 years as Junior Training Officer.

Under his leadership, the junior section has grown from 3 cadets to around 18 regularly attending. Adam creates a safe and welcoming environment where young people build confidence, friendships and early life skills, while learning teamwork, discipline and self‑belief.

He also strengthens links with the wider community through joint activities, residential weekends and learning opportunities, including science, technology, engineering and mathematics events.

Through his NHS role, Adam shares healthcare knowledge with cadets, helping to inspire interest in science, wellbeing and future careers.

Employer of the Year finalist

The Employer of the Year Award recognises organisations that go the extra mile to recruit, retain and support veterans, reservists and the wider Armed Forces community.

NHS Golden Jubilee has supported the armed forces community since it was established in 2002. This includes signing the Armed Forces Covenant in 2016 and becoming the first NHS Scotland Board to receive the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award in 2017, which was revalidated in 2022.

The organisation received the Employer of the Year silver award in 2023 and was the overall gold award winner in 2024.

Jim Drew – Volunteer of the Year finalist

Jim Drew, a Royal Navy veteran with 35 years’ service, was recognised as a finalist for his volunteering in the Radiology Department at NHS Golden Jubilee.

Jim supports patients from across Scotland by helping them navigate the hospital and offering calm reassurance, supporting staff and helping clinics run smoothly.

NHS Golden Jubilee congratulates all finalists and winners at the Scottish Veterans Awards 2026 and thanks them for their continued support of the armed forces community across Scotland.
