The Golden Jubilee will take centre stage as Scotland’s only representatives in a unique one-off live television programme.

On Wednesday 4 July, 200 members of staff at the Clydebank-based hospital will attempt to create a new world record by taking part in a nationwide live singalong.

Titled ‘The Big NHS Sing A Long,’ the event is part of a series of live broadcasts from around the UK to celebrate the 70^th Anniversary of the NHS.

Throughout the evening, an NHS Choir, staff and music stars will join forces around the UK to sing a rendition of the iconic Beatles classic ‘With a Little Help from My Friends.’

Not only that, but TV viewers will witness some exceptional stories from right across the NHS- including interviews with Golden Jubilee staff and patients.

The programme, which is scheduled to run from 9.00pm to 10.00pm, will also meet extraordinary patients and NHS staff and deliver plenty of surprises and feelgood moments - as they aim to recruit thousands of voices to swell the ranks of the Big NHS Singalong choir.

Chief Executive of the Golden Jubilee, Jill Young said: “We are absolutely delighted and beaming with pride to be chosen as Scotland’s sole representatives for The Big NHS Sing A Long.

“As an organisation dedicated to quality, research and innovation, it’s important for us to promote the exceptional work carried out by our dedicated and highly skilled members of staff.

“Not only is it the 70^th Anniversary of the NHS, but we’re marking another very special milestone too, as we are also celebrating 10 years of delivering Heart and Lung services in Scotland here at the Golden Jubilee Hospital. ”

Endemol Shine North will produce the 60-minute special programme with Sara Cox and Ashley Banjo being the presenters.

On the night a choir made up of unsung NHS heroes from all over the country- with singers from the pop world- will try to smash the world record for the biggest live singalong ever to be broadcast.

Sara said: “It is so exciting to be part of this challenge to break a world record and celebrate the amazing work of the NHS. We’ll be travelling the length and breadth of the UK recruiting people to join in to make sure we smash that record and show everyone working in our NHS how much we appreciate them.”

Ashley said: “We want to recognise and celebrate the hardworking and dedicated staff who keep the NHS going every day and highlight the human kindness at the heart of the incredible care and treatment they make available to every single one of us.”

The Big NHS Singalong is commissioned for ITV by Priya Singh, Commissioning Editor and Sue Murphy, Head of Factual Entertainment.
