The Golden Jubilee is pleased to announce that Jann Gardner is the new Chief Executive of the national NHS Board.

Jann, who takes up the post next week, is currently Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive at NHS Fife, where she previously held the role of Director of Strategic Planning and Performance.

Susan Douglas Scott CBE, Chair of the Golden Jubilee, commented: “I am delighted to welcome Jann Gardner as our new Chief Executive here at the Golden Jubilee.  It is an exciting time for us all with our expansion plans and development of our excellent service to date for the people of Scotland.

“Jann’s impressive track-record, substantial experience, and clear leadership qualities make her the ideal choice to take the Golden Jubilee forward to the next phase of our evolution.”

With more than 25 years of NHS and private healthcare management experience, Jann  started her career as a clinical pharmacist and worked through progressively senior roles, first within her professional field and then within wider hospital and healthcare management. She has worked within a number of organisations including NHS Fife, NHS Forth Valley, NHS Lanarkshire, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, NHS North Yorkshire and Health Care International.

On her appointment, Jann Gardner said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be taking up the role of Chief Executive of the Golden Jubilee. The opportunity to lead such a dynamic and inspirational organisation is a great privilege.

“As a national NHS Board, the Golden Jubilee has achieved outstanding success and I am excited to be joining at a time of significant expansion in key demand areas.

“I look forward to working with colleagues within the Golden Jubilee, across NHSScotland and beyond to further develop the opportunities to improve the health of the people of Scotland.”

Health Secretary Jeane Freeman MSP added: “I’m pleased to welcome Jann Gardner to her new role, who has a wealth of experience from across the NHS.

“Patient care remains a priority for NHS Scotland and I know this is something that Jann is committed to. I am looking forward to working with her to build on Golden Jubilee’s track record of success.”

Jann Gardner replaces Jill Young who retired as Chief Executive in November 2018.
