Clinical and Surgical Skills Training Facility

The facility is available to external agencies for healthcare training activities including the use of organs of animal origin (e.g. pig hearts for cardiothoracic training) and synthetic bones (e.g. knees and limbs for orthopaedic training).

Our facilities include:

• Four training rooms, three of which are suited to clinical and nursing training events and one corporate theme;
• A patient simulator;
• Live links to cardiac catheterisation labs and to cardiac and orthopaedic theatres; and

Surgical skills room with six theatre-style platforms, one central platform for the presenter and a preparation room with storage refrigerators and a transition area to allow delegates to change from outdoor clothing.

These single bedroom training rooms have been specifically designed for hospital based manual handling and resuscitation training. The rooms can be split with a flexible wall, or joined together as one larger room and can be setup in a variety of ways depending on your needs.

The space can also be set up as a ward environment to produce ‘real-life- scenarios or, alternatively, all of the furniture can be removed to enable conference-style training.

Our third training room is the home to our state-of-the-art patient simulator, including an interactive control room and adjoining viewing screen. This room can mock up true to life crisis, emergency situations and training scenarios for up to seven people to be performed in real time.

In addition to carrying out pioneering research, the Golden Jubilee Research Institute also allows in depth surgical skills training to be carried out.

Our Surgical Skill Suit has space to accommodated six theatre-style platforms with a maximum capacity of 24 trainees. This also allows for a central platform, suitable for the presenter.
